Iris Van Herpen is one of
the most forward thinking designers within the fashion industry, I believe this
as after the Sally Denton talk, as she highlighted the major effect that 3D
printing is going to have on the future of fashion. Van Herpen has curated this
'Bio piracy' collection, which asks the question 'are we still the sole
perpetrator of our bodies?' this collection was put together with the help of
Lawrence Malstaff who concentrates on the interaction between biology and
physicality, this is something my group and I would like to make a connection
between. Another interesting aspect of this collection is their 'vacuum packed'
concept, creating an embryonic environment for the model, literally by vacuum
packing them. I find it interesting that even though 3D printing is not completely
fully established yet, the collection remains high end and does not lack in
quality, as a group we would like to create inspiration for a high end market,
I will keep the Iris Van Herpen brand in mind when constructing the trend book.
