Rianna Phillips Pitch to Curate AW14 Lookbook

Grace and I were not as prepared for the pitch to Rianna as we would have liked to be. This is the first time within this live brief that we have felt this way, as we always turn up to tutorials with substantial amounts of work. However we had let the stress and troubles of the trend book assembly get the better of us. This just goes to show that in future projects we need to balance our priorities better. Although with this being said, the pitch went very well. Rianna also included imagery from our pitch in a recent Instagram upload, which lifted Grace’s spirits and myself after the presentation. We are both confident that Rianna and the rest of the group received our concept clearly. However we do feel that we lacked E-commerce information, this is something we have looked further into after the presentation as although we do not have another chance to speak with Rianna, we still felt this was a necessary process we needed to carry out in order for our work to evolve in future projects. We both feel that we have worked well together throughout this brief and have experimented with some new, fun and original ideas. Reflecting on the work we could have pushed more e-commerse work however this was an over sight and we concentrated more on the content of the lookbook. If we were to be chosen I would be very happy, however we are both just glad that we took part as it has been a he learning curve for the both of us. Imagery of our presentation is included through our private Tumblr page, and handouts.

Rianna Meeting 02-05-2014

Grace and myself spent the full day brainstorming some more ideas to take to Rianna for our first meeting since the Easter break. We bought some foils & some iridescent film to photograph alongside some coloured Perspex, we only used sample sizes to suggest our idea to keep the project cost efficient. We experimented with two different backgrounds, a concrete background to use as a minimalistic backdrop, and a white one with a busier background. Rianna loved the 'Laser Silver' foil we had purchased and stole little samples for herself. She wants us to play around with the Perspex more by using it as a filter on photographs or to create blurs and extra dimensions to the images.

We discussed setting up a test shoot, which we need to do immediately. However we could not get into the studio as it was fully booked, in forthcoming projects we now know that pre-booking is essential. With this in mind myself and Grace further researched into the aesthetic we wanted to create throughout the photo shoot, this led us to investigate styling/ make up/ accessories and the hair style of how we would want the model to be wearing and have also contacted a modeling agency in regards to recruiting a model for the day. We have booked room in the Photography studio but also want to take the shoot to other locations around university to add diversity to the test shoot.

The test shoot will demonstrate not only imagery with the model & the bag, but also the bags alone and 'product shots' using make up and other products coming out of the accessories, to create a 'life style' feel to the imagery.

Rianna Phillips Tutorial #1

Rianna loved the presentation we had come up with and had some suggestions for us to take the idea further. She even followed us on our new Instagram page! Rianna suggested contacting current trend forecasting companies to ask how they develop their trends, and if they have any feedback for ours. This is something we are not going to pursue as I will be contacting these companies for internships, I do not want to show any signs of inexperience. Another great idea from the meeting was to go into Magma, and check out all of their magazines and books as there are always some interesting layouts, this would help inspire our final trend book.
